Unlock The Supplies Workbench
The first thing you need to do is unlock the Supplies Workbench. You can do this by unlocking the Essential Tools under Crafting in your Memetics menu. It costs one Cipher to unlock, which you can get by leveling up, completing season challenges, or catching Deviations.
Gather The Materials
Once you have the Supplies Workbench unlocked, you can start gathering the things needed to make a fishing rod. You’ll need:
- 20 Logs
- 10 Copper Pieces
You can get logs by cutting down trees, and you can get copper pieces by melting copper rocks in a furnace. Copper rocks can be found in the ground all over the world.
Make The Fishing Rod
Now that you have the materials, it’s time to make the fishing rod. Go to your Supplies Workbench and press ‘F’ to use it. Select the fishing rod from the list of things you can make. It will take some time to make, which you can see on the lower left side of your menu.

Start Fishing!
Now that you have your fishing rod and bait, you’re ready to start fishing! Find a safe spot near water and use your fishing rod by pressing the key you assigned it to on your hotbar. Press ‘R‘ to add bait to the hook, then press left-click to start aiming where you want to throw your line.
If the area glows green, you can throw your line there. If it glows red, you can’t fish in that spot. Once you’re happy with where you’re aiming, press left-click again to throw your line. Your bait will be used up, even if you don’t catch a fish.
Wait patiently for the fish to bite. When you see the icon of your fish tackle at the bottom of your screen start glowing, quickly press and hold left-click to pull in the fish. You’ll have a few seconds to do this before the fish gets away.
Keep pulling in the fish by moving your camera in the opposite direction it’s swimming. The goal is to fill up the “Hooked” bar while keeping the “Break” bar in the middle. If you do this successfully, you’ll catch the fish!
