Jin Sakai wasn’t afraid of the Forbidden Shrine. He’d faced down plenty of Mongols on his journey to save Tsushima Island. This statue on Iki Island, though? It felt different. It was like the wind whispered warnings around him, and the salty air tasted of mystery. Still, Jin wasn’t one to back down from a challenge. He gripped his katana tighter and walked closer. Stories said there were hidden tests and cool loot inside, but how do you solve the Forbidden Shrine in Ghost of Tsushima? Jin wasn’t scared. He was going to figure it out!
This guide will show you what to do to unlock the shrine’s secrets and grab the good stuff.
Finding the Clue
First, walk up to the statue. There’s a dusty old scroll at its feet. This scroll has a tricky message that tells you how to beat the shrine. It says:
“The old world is gone, though life is never-ending. Focus your spirit, Take up the Archer’s mantle. A seeker must aim for truth.“
Focus your mind and become an archer. A searcher must find the truth.” This message is the key to solving the Forbidden Shrine in Ghost of Tsushima.
The message talks about becoming an “archer.” This means you need to wear a special suit of armor called Tadayori’s Armor. If you don’t have it yet, you need to finish the story called “The Legend of Tadayori” first. Once you have the armor, put it on before you try anything else.
The message also says to “focus your mind.” This means you need to use a special skill called Focus Hearing. To use Focus Hearing, just tap the touchpad on your controller. The world will get sharper, and you’ll see enemies and important things easier.
The last part of the message says, “A searcher must find the truth.” This is the final step to beating the Forbidden Shrine in Ghost of Tsushima. With Focus Hearing on and Tadayori’s Armor equipped, aim your bow at the statue. While in Focus Hearing, special spots on the statue will light up red, showing you hidden targets. There are three of them: one on the head of the creature on the statue, another on its left hand, and the last one on the burning wheel behind its head.
Hitting the Truth
Once you see all three red spots with Focus Hearing, take aim with your bow and arrow. Shoot each glowing red spot with one arrow. If you hit them right, the red spots will turn blue. After you hit all three targets, a short movie will play, showing you’ve beaten the Forbidden Shrine’s puzzle.
Bonus Tip: Hitting the Tricky Target
The Forbidden Shrine has a sneaky target hidden behind the statue. Here’s a cool trick to hit it with one shot:
- Walk Around: With Focus Hearing on and your bow drawn, try walking around the statue instead of just aiming straight ahead. Look for a spot where you can see the burning wheel clearly behind the statue’s head. This way, you won’t have anything blocking your arrow and you can hit the target easily.
Remember, taking your time and moving around a bit can help you solve the Forbidden Shrine puzzle like a true samurai!
You did it! You solved the riddle and hit the hidden targets, so you get a reward. A cool new look for Tadayori’s Armor will unlock. It will look just like Aloy’s armor from Horizon Zero Dawn—a neat way to honor another PlayStation hero.
