The world of ARK is full of wild creatures, some scary and some friendly. Like the Hyaenodon, might look scary at first but can actually become your new best friend! This furry friend is a little like a super strong, super fast dog. It might not be the cuddly type, but it will definitely be loyal and helpful. Hyaenodons are awesome survivors in the wild, and that can make them awesome companions for you too. They can help you explore new areas, find resources, and even fight off some of the dangers you’ll face on your ARK adventures. This guide will show you how to tame a Hyaenodon and make it part of your dino team.
Why You Want a Hyaenodon
Hyaenodons are the Usain Bolts of the ARK world! They can zoom around faster than practically any other creature, making them perfect for scouting uncharted territory. Imagine being able to zip through tall grass or dense forests, leaving slower dangers in the dust. Plus, they have a super sniffer that can find hidden stashes of yummy meat and hide way better than you ever could.
They’re like living treasure hunters! And while they might not be the biggest dino, they can hold their own in a fight against smaller predators. With a Hyaenodon by your side, you can face those pesky Raptors or Dilophosaurs with a lot more confidence. Think of them as your personal bodyguard on a leash… well, not exactly a leash, but you get the idea.
Finding Your Hyaenodon Buddy
Hyaenodons are all over ARK, in grassy plains and big forests. They look like strong dogs with stripes. Be careful though, they often hang out with other Hyaenodons in packs!
Taming Trick: Be Patient!
Unlike some dinos you can tame with berries, Hyaenodons like different food. Here’s what you need:
- Traps: Build a Stone Trap or a Big Bear Trap to catch your Hyaenodon. Put some stinky spoiled meat inside to lure it in, then slam the trap shut!
- Sleepy Arrows: If traps aren’t your style, craft a bow and some sleep arrows. Shoot the Hyaenodon with these arrows until it falls asleep.
Taming Time!
Once your Hyaenodon is safe and sound, it’s time to be friends!
- Yummy Food: Hyaenodons love meat. Stock up on Raw Meat, Raw Fish, or Cooked Meat before you start.
- Sneak Up Slow: If you have one, wear a special suit called a Ghillie Suit. It helps you hide from the Hyaenodon. Walk slowly up to the trapped or sleeping creature from behind.
- Treat Time! Open your backpack and give your Hyaenodon the meat you brought. You’ll see a food bar appear above its head. Keep feeding it yummy food until the bar is full.
- Waiting Game: Taming a Hyaenodon takes time. Each time you feed it, the taming bar goes up a little. Be patient and keep giving it food every few minutes.
Taming Tips
- Don’t Wake Up Sleepy Friend: If you used sleep arrows, watch the torpor bar. This shows how sleepy your Hyaenodon is. If it gets too low, it will wake up and you’ll have to start over. Use special food called Narcotics to keep it snoozing if needed.
- Stay Hidden: Hyaenodons get scared easily. If you spook it while taming, it might forget how much you like each other. Stay hidden and approach carefully.
- Better Food, Faster Taming: The tastier the food you give your Hyaenodon, the faster it becomes your friend. Cooked Meat is the best!
- Taming a Whole Pack? Not Today! If you’re trying to tame a Hyaenodon from a pack, its friends might attack you. Try to find one that’s alone before you start taming.
Congrats, You Tamed a Hyaenodon!
Once the taming bar is full, your Hyaenodon is now your dino buddy! Put a saddle on it so you can ride together and explore all of ARK. Remember to keep feeding it meat so it stays happy and loyal.
Bonus Tip: Baby Hyaenodons!
Want more Hyaenodons? If you have a male and a female one that are already tamed, put them close together. Soon, you’ll have a cute baby Hyaenodon to raise! Taming a Hyaenodon can be a fun challenge in ARK. With the right tools and a little patience, you can turn this fierce hunter into your awesome new dino pal!
